A Celebration of Democracy”

“Chaos and Healing the State of the Union”

November 29, 2020

Remember Aaron Van Langewelde, a Republican, and member of the Michigan Board of State Canvassers, charged with certifying Michigan’s election results, which made official Joe Biden’s win over President Donald Trump.  Biden beat Trump by 154,000 votes in Michigan.  Van Langewelde is one common man, who became a hero for this democracy, saving Michigan and our nation from post-election chaos.   Under pressure to resign to save his own future in the Republican party, he refused to be influenced by pro-Trump sentiment, chaos theories and other nonsense propagated by those seeking to assuage the President’s ego.  Instead, citing historical precedent, Van Langewelde said:

“We must not attempt to exercise power we simply don’t have…As John Adams once said, ‘We     are a government of laws, not men.’  This board needs to adhere to that principle here today.

This board must do its part to uphold the rule of law and comply with our duty to certify this    election.”   (from The True Story of Michigan’s Fake Vote Fraud Scandal, Politico by Tim Alberta)

Likely, there are countless other decent men and women who are not so enamored with their own political futures that they will sacrifice our democracy on the altar of trying to cozy up to a President who cares more about his own ego than the health of our democracy.  Whoever our heroes are today in this democracy, we should all bow and give thanks to our most Merciful God and our Savior Jesus Christ, who through the Holy Spirit of grace and truth raised up such men and woman as Aaron Van Langewelde in this time of our most vicious and insidious attack on our laws and democratic ideals since the founding of this Republic.   Temporarily, for now, for today, we have been granted a reprieve from our own destruction.  It is imperative upon all those of us who love the truth, rule by law and democratic process to remain vigilant and challenge the chaos and cancer causing voices across the nation and world, who seek to erode and if possible, destroy our democracy.

The rule of law, and governance “by the people and for the people” though duly elected officials in free and fair elections, in which every legitimate voter’s vote counts, is the foundation of everything democratic we cherish and hold dear.  If one legitimate voter is disenfranchised by those seeking to grasp power for themselves in opposition to our democratic principles, our laws, then all citizens are equally disenfranchised should this occur.  If we cannot believe in a free and fair election process, certified by each state and finalized by an untampered electoral college, then we cannot believe in our democracy, not in our elected leaders.

If any leader, great or small, obtains an office of government of any type by fraud, then that office carries no legitimacy.  That person cannot be affirmed as legitimate.  Simply because our President wishes to believe he won the election does not make it so!  He can live in his fantasy world and imagine he is President.  Our election of 2020 was won by Joe Biden, our President-Elect.  Kamala Harris is our Vice-President elect.  This is the legitimate outcome of our democratic election process.  Anyone unwilling or unable to accept this outcome is also living in a non-reality world conceived and constructed by their own imaginations.   Just wishing something is so does not make it so!   Christians live by truth and by grace.  It is only when we enter into the truth of Jesus Christ, who is THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE that we can be saved!  When we enter into the truth and the way of our democratic process, we, as citizens, will again have life in this democracy!

I have waited for my brothers and sisters in Christ to forsake the conspiracies theories that have been promoted by various media outlets which say the election was stolen from the President.  This is not true, has never been true and will never be true in the future.  If we as Christians wish to live in the truth of Jesus Christ our Savior, it is equally necessary for us to live in the truth of our democracy, if we wish to save it.  We, as the Christian church, do not have the luxury of entertaining falsehoods, which give a path for the devil (Satan) to deceive and destroy the church!  We should not wed ourselves with any President, Trump, Biden, Obama, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and so on.  These are only mere men.  Because they are given a position of leadership for a short season does not mean we take what they say as law or even legitimate.  We prove the statements and actions of our leaders by our Congress, which either endorses or denies their actions and their words.

The Republican protected President Trump from his own sins and foibles, which are many, because they felt they might use him to accomplish their own political agenda.  The conservative Christian church did the same thing, hoping to reverse ‘Roe v Wade” and gain conservative justices on the Supreme Court.  In doing so, by endorsing a corrupt politician as President Trump, the conservative church is in danger of losing its own soul and any effectiveness it may wish to have in trying to convert infidels.  My question for my brothers and sisters is simply this: “Is what you gained by embracing Trump worth what you have lost in your soul?”

I am not asking you to endorse Biden or his political agenda.  I do ask that you judge him and all politicians by the authoritative and only true Word, which is the Word of God made known in the holy scriptures and incarnate in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!  As the Apostle Paul declares, “Prove (Test) all things, but hold fast to that which is good!” (I Thessalonians 5:21)   As the Christian church, we are called to have discernment.  When we argue against our legitimate democratic process and our laws, we are in error and guilty of promoting error and chaos.  We are no longer living in the truth or the legitimacy of the gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord!

A politician is simply a politician!  If we are so gullible that we do not know we are being manipulated for political purposes, when our faith is used a meat hook placed in us to carry us along for a particular political agenda, we are being naïve and upon realizing should be highly ashamed of being so gullible.  This applies to all politicians.  It also applies to any who take the American flag and our democracy and wrap it around the Bible, obscuring our ability as Christians and as the Christian Church to critique our own selves and our own political agendas.   We are no better than our politicians if we ever think we have all the handle on the truth.  If fact, all of us have error and live in error much of our days.  It is the corrective of the holy scriptures and of the fellowship of the saints wherein our brothers and sisters in love help us know the truth about ourselves and our larger world and so in love make us free to serve our Savior Jesus Christ!

I argue so strongly against these errors of bad thinking (‘our theology, our beliefs’), because bad theology and errors of thinking produce bad practice.  How can we truly practice our faith if we are living in error, deceiving ourselves?

I have said enough, and too little.  But I do hope and pray we as the Christian church in America, in the USA, can find our way again and never allow ourselves again to become so enamored of one needy politician with a large narcissistic ego as to so dominate our worship life that we lose sight of the one true Leader, our Lord Jesus Christ, who alone is righteous, just, true and good, merciful, compassionate and benevolent, who actually does have the power to save us!!! Jesus Christ can save us from ourselves, from our sins, and from the errors of our ways and our thinking, so much so that he can liberate us into a life of service, not to our nation, but to our God, not to a democratic ideal or a government enterprise to create more jobs or to make America great again.    This is not our goal.  Our goal is to be servants of Jesus Christ, to serve Him, to love Him, to do God’s will in this world and for the love of all our fellow men and women, who deserve in our lifetime to hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ and not simply God’s people arguing about politics.  God forbid, that we should spend our whole life serving the political aim of one man or one party of men and women.   May God helps to serve our Lord Jesus Christ alone, to whose name we offer our Thanksgiving, not only for saving our democracy from error and chaos, but rather for saving ourselves!  We are, I am, in need of the Saving Christ!  I invite, in his name and in his honor, to become one of his servants!  Free yourselves from the worries and vain jangling’s of the media and the internet.  Find peace in the study of the holy scriptures and prayer!  As Jesus as promised, “My yoke is easy!  My burden is light!”  If you are carrying a burden today that is neither “easy” nor “light,” the burden you are carrying does not come from God, but from your own self, or someone else!  Forsake that burden, cast is off, and receive the light burden of love for Jesus Christ and for the fellow citizens of our world!  “For God so loved the world…”  (John 3:16,17)

Amen and Amen!

God our Father, Lord Jesus Christ, Blessed Holy Spirit, hear our prayers for ourselves, for our nation, and for our world, through Jesus Christ our Lord, our Savior and our Soon Coming King!   Amen!

“Amen!”  “We praise you, Lord Jesus Christ!” Bill Wilson, servant of God by God’s abundant
