“Shame, Shame!”

“Shame, Shame!”

I have often wondered while watching old westerns what is was like for a man sitting on a horse about to be hung from a limb on a tree, as he felt the noose slowly tightened around his neck just before the horse on which he is sitting is hit on the rump to make it run out from under him.   I suspect this is what President Trump is beginning to feel after his personal lawyer pled guilty to committing a felony trying to influence the election on behalf of “The Candidate,” and his former campaign manager is convicted of 8 felony counts including money laundering and other nefarious crimes during and before the 2016 election.  The only question now is who is going to hit the horse on the rump and leave this President hanging on the limb of the tree! (“on the day of impeachment!”)

Hopefully, this bump on the rump will be swift, quick and merciful, bringing finally to an end this madness which has taken over Washington, D.C!  Surely, there will soon be an end to this debacle of governance, to this most unworthy candidate-President, who illegitimately stole this election from the American people concealing lies stacked on top of lies in order to shame his opponent and conceal the blackness of his own soul.   If any of the things we now know were known before the 2016 election, does anyone still think this unworthy man would have ever been elected President?

If the House of Representatives were made up of honorable men and women who loved the country and our constitution more than they coveted the trappings of power, we would already have a new President in place of this current one.  The House of Representatives, who alone have the power of impeachment of a sitting president have neglected their historical duty and their role of serving as a check and balance on a wayward President.  A reasonable person, a citizen of this great nation, the United States of America is surely entitled to ask these questions of the House of Representatives:  “Where have you been for the past two years?” and “Will you be here today when we need you?”

We, as citizens of the United States of America, have every right to believe and to feel that our institutions of government will function on good days and also in times of crisis!  Whether these are “good days” as core supporters of the President declare, of “times of crisis” as every other person believes—we still have the right to expect the House of Representatives to function at this time.  If the President of the United States is found to have committed a felony before coming into office, is this enough evidence to impeach him while he is in office?  Such is the question of today!  The way we answer this question and others like it in the next several months will predict the health and long term viability of this nation.  We will find out soon enough if the rot has gotten into the marrow (deep bones) of our nation, or if this is just bad flesh needing to be surgically removed.

I hope and pray this whole debacle of President Trump is just rotting flesh outside the bone.  If this goes deeper, much deeper, may God have mercy on us all!

Prayer:  “Lord Jesus Christ, Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world: You are Light of Lights and Very God of Very God.  In your presence, we know that nothing false, sinful, unrighteous, prideful or bigoted can stand.  In your mercy, show us great mercy.  Help us just now and heal our land.  Cut away the rotted flesh from us, and cleanse our marrow of any cancerous cells that might multiple and kill us.  Make us whole again! We recognize that we ourselves are unworthy to ask this prayer, sinful as we are, but we make this prayer not in our name, our goodness or any righteousness we may pretend to have, but we pray in the very Name of Jesus Christ our Savior and our Redeemer, covered in the blood of your righteous, sacrificial life.  For there is none more worthy and righteous than You, Savior of all Humankind and our Savior, Lord and Redeemer:  In your holy name we pray, Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen and Amen.”

Let all of God’s people say, “Amen!”

“Amen!  We praise you, Lord Jesus Christ!”

Bill Wilson, servant of God, by God’s gracious mercies in Jesus Christ our Lord.

“Amen!”
