Trump accuses Comey of lying to Congress (BBC News, June 9, 2017)

 

“Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication…and WOW, Comey is a leaker.” (President Donald Trump, affectionately called ‘Herr Rumph’)

The LIAR calls the former FBI director, former lawyer-investigator-prosecutor a liar.  Talk about political drama, this is first rate stuff.  In the history of the United States of America, from the very first day there has been no statement by any President more untrue than the statement tweeted by President Trump today!  The reality TV star ignores Reality, calling it all “fake news”, since it disagrees with his own personal narrative about himself.  He admits to no lying, which he does regularly and with great gusto.  He admits to no obstruction of the truth, which he does on a daily basis.  He admits to doing no wrong, and since he had done so little right he does not know the right when it is staring him plainly in his face!

It is time to call for a psychiatric evaluation of this man, not only is he a pathological liar, he lives in a fantasy world of his own creation, in which he is the chief actor, playwright and commentator.  Since he takes all the parts in his narcissism, he leaves no room for anyone else.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan offered a pathetic excuse for the president not being familiar with Washington’s protocol, and yet who can defend this president who asked his own Attorney General to leave the room before he spoke to Director Comey.  Former FBI Director Comey is the only reliable witness here! The president is not.  Trump has lost any shred of credibility, if he ever had any at all!  Trump is a disgrace to this country, for a sitting President to act in this fashion!  It is ashamed it is impossible to convict a sitting President of any crime.  Only Congress can impeach and why would Mitch McConnell want to do that?  He sits in the seat of power in the Senate.  His wife might lose her cushy job in the federal government!

By this time in the news cycle, almost everything that can be said about this matter has already been said.  I write simply as a Christian minister as a form of meditation, so I can pray clearly and intelligently about these things.  As President Trump cynically remarked at a Christian gathering yesterday, “the truth will prevail.”  He was attempting to quote the words of Jesus in the Holy Scripture, when Jesus said, “the Truth will set you free!”  Jesus then declared, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to God the Father but by me!”  But Trump does not know the scriptures well enough to even quote them correctly!

President Trump is neither the way, the truth, nor the life!  It is surprising he had the gall to even utter these words in the presence of God’s children.  They will return upon him and rot out his belly, like Josephus recorded of King Herod when he took glory to himself instead of giving it to God.  In that story and angel struck down King Herod.  We will wait to see what will come upon this man, who dares to speak lies in the presence of his God and of his people.

President Trump will likely continue lying, protesting that he is being treated unfairly by the media and the public at large.  He has disavowed the legitimacy of the judiciary branch, he has proved the lack of legitimacy of the executive branch by his words and his actions.  Now all we need is for the legislative branch to be declared illegitimate by Mr. Trump and the whole government will collapse upon itself.  Does this President not know that the only legitimacy he has is what is given to him by the government of the United States of America and by the vote of the people?  He has no self-legitimacy, but this is derived by virtue of the office of President, which is part of the branches of the federal government.  If these go down, does he really think that anyone will listen to him?  Trump is a caustic corrosive in the halls of Congress, scalding the skin of those who get too close to him and his critical spirit.  Someone should throw some neutralizing substance on his words!  Acid to base= salt.  Salt is a more benign product trapping the reaction of the electron exchange.  Comey –Trump.  Perhaps they will neutralize one another and protect the halls of Congress from being contaminated. “Liar-liar”.  God knows only one of these two men is telling the truth.  One day, truly, “the Truth will set us free!”  In this case whether the truth prevails or not, the lies have already been spoken.  “May the Lord judge between thee and me,” scripture often says of two persons who separate and cannot go in the same place again.  “Here I raise my Ebenezer (stone)”, as a marker of the place of separation, with God witnessing the ultimate action.

I expect yesterday when James Comey placed his Ebenezer stone in the halls of Congress, there were many who trembled in that same place!  It is the beginning of the end for this president!  His removal from office will not come soon enough in my mind!  James Comey acted more Presidential yesterday in his testimony before Congress than our President has managed to do since he was elected!  James Comey would not be a bad replacement for Trump.  “May the Lord judge between me and thee,” Comey should say, and see then what the Lord does for the one man who has told only the truth!
