“The Beginning of the End”

“The Beginning of the End for this President”

June 5, 2017

Former FBI director James Comey is set to testify soon before the Senate Intelligence Committee investigating the effect the Russians had on the US election and any “collusion” that the Trump administration or former officials may have had in these incidents.  It has gone from alleged to probable, but not yet proven.  Former FBI director James Comey, who was summarily fired by Mr. Trump brings a new and interesting twist to the unfolding drama in Washington, DC.  President Trump seems to thrive on drama.  If he has none, he tweets something outrageous, designed apparently to keep himself in the evening news.

In the last 24 hours, apparently Trump has let off a flurry of tweets, one attacking the mayor of London after the terrorist attack on London Bridge on Saturday.  Even when he tries to say something “comforting”, Trump still manages to inflame passions.  To his credit, the mayor of London, a Moslem, Sadiq Khan, remarked that he did not have time to respond to every tweet from the American president, when dealing with a terrorist crisis in London.

President Trump, with his narcissistic personality, apparently has a need to either stir up trouble or be the focus of trouble.  Somehow, he feeds his sick ego by making others around him miserable.  In so doing, he ensures that he remains the center of everyone’s attention.  In the case of the Russian involvement in the election and the “travel ban” on Moslems from seven countries, which he now says is a real “travel ban”, according to NBC news reports, he may have in fact hurt his case currently going to the US Supreme Court.  Even while requesting an opinion from this body, he continues to slam the judiciary has “slow and ineffective” and says “if anything happens it will be their fault.”  Talk about prejudicing your own case.  He may have done himself in this time.  The previous courts used his own prejudicial words as a presidential candidate regarding Moslems to strike down his travel ban as discriminatory against a certain religious group.  This apparently has infuriated President Trump, who is his own presidential fashion set off a flurry of tweets.  Now, no longer a candidate for president, but as the President, he sets off a new flurry of tweets expressing his statement “it is a real travel ban”, which his own administration had disavowed and which his own Attorney General Sessions has tried to distinguish the second ban from the first by nuancing the language.  However, in true Trump fashion, he has sabotaged and torpedoed his own judiciary team of the Attorney General’s office and other advisors.

I would really hate to have this guy as a coach or a boss of a corporation.  Not only would the ship be sinking, Trump would see that it was completely blown from the water, come what may for all those who serve under him!  Looking at all this honestly, one has to wonder if there is not something seriously pathologically wrong about this man.  I am beginning to agree with the psychiatrists, who in the beginning of his presidency signed a statement in the New York Times, “This man is unfit to be president!”

Those who read statements like these from President Trump, especially “rabid Republicans,” seem to thrive on this president’s excesses, as it keeps them from having to do any real governing whatsoever.  Can anyone tell me the current priorities of the House or the Senate?  Are we working on a budget, on the Mexican wall, on the North Korea question, or that of China in the South China sea?  Jettisoning climate change, are we working to bring back steel workers’ jobs or is all this just a lot of huff and puff?  Only God knows.  This president is all about everything and as a result all about nothing.  He has no sustainable focus to make real legislation. He is an excellent showman, a reality actor on TV, but that is all he seems to know.  Trump is all about keeping himself in the news.

I expect I am not the only person in this great nation who is confused by this president.  He has and continues to diminish the Presidency on a daily basis.  By the time he finishes, will we even recognize it at all?  If Trump is not mentally ill, he is certainly on the verge of it!  Any person who creates this much chaos deserves some kind of mood stabilizer!  It is really madness that we continue to put up with this _____!

But then, as I said in the beginning of his presidency, “Americans always vote for what we want and we always get what we deserve!”  I am not sure we deserve this man, but God knows we have got him.  If anyone can figure out what to do with him, I am open to suggestions.  It would be nice if he would simply go away and then we could all get back to the normal business of living in America.  But his poison needs a special cure.  I hope to God the Senate can find this soon.  Perhaps the conservative Supreme Court will find it in their hearts to help him!  Let us all invite our Lord to help us!  Conservative and liberal alike, let us pray for the good of America!  We need, we deserve better than this.  For those still enamored by this man, I will pray God gives you eyes to see!  The leadership of a nation is not about visceral emotions, but is about real governance.  Since Trump came in office we have had a lot of visceral emotions, but almost no real governance.  If you enjoy chaos, then Trump is truly your man!  But if like most of us, you want good governance, even if it is dull as hell, he is not your man!  For good governance, Trump is not our man!  Give us real governance, my Lord Jesus, for we are tired of all this TV drama.  Perhaps, O Lord Jesus, you can give this man another TV show on a late night channel, where he can strut about and says whatever he pleases, while the rest of the world sleeps in real peace in our beds!

The Voice of one crying in the wilderness, “Make straight in this desert a highway for our God!”

Let all of God’s people say, “Amen!”

“Amen!  We praise you, Lord Jesus Christ!”
