The Man Who Would Be King
Or “Can Anyone Trust This President?”
May 16, 2017
BBC News Headlines: Trump ‘asked’ FBI to halt Flynn inquiry.
““I hope you can let this go,” Mr. Trump reportedly told Mr. Comey after a White House meeting in February, according to a memo written by the ex-FBI director.
The memo was written immediately after the meeting, a day after Michael Flynn resigned, according to U.S. media.
The White House has denied the report in a statement.” (BBC News, Internet, May 16, 2017)

After this report emerged tonight, a reasonable person could ask: “Can anyone trust this President?” The President says or does something inane. The White House spokesperson issues a denial of what just occurred in an attempt at damage control. The President then contradicts his own staff saying “No, this did occur, and as President I can do whatever I want…(as in the reference to top secret intel shared with the Russians in a closed White House meeting). The President presumably can declassify what is previously classified, in fact, so secret even the British allies were not aware. Is this not bizarre behavior for a sitting President? The President apparently trusts the Russians more than he does his own intelligence community. If the intelligence on ISIS originated with Israel, as some have said, will Israel trust this President again with their “top secrets?”
It seems the President in his attempt to manage everything is in fact managing nothing well. The man who would be king is shown again and again to have no clothes.
One has to wonder, how much longer this charade will be allowed to continue on? How much longer will Mitch McConnell (Speaker of the Senate) and Paul Ryan (Speaker of the House of Representatives) play interference for this president? If they continue on too long, will they not risk damaging their own credibility and be themselves liable for obstruction of justice?
Under the separation of powers spelled out in the U.S. Constitution an implicit and explicit understanding of how power in government is to be properly managed is shown, so each branch of government in separate but equal roles fulfills its function in the balanced dance (or “exhibition”) of democracy. An average, reasonable person begins to ask, “Is their collusion between the executive and the representative branches to hold the truth hostage?” How much longer will corruption of powers trump the absolute truth?” How long is a lie sustainable, even among friends?
The phrase, “something is rotten in Denmark” surely applies. The President has gone to great lengths now to conceal something from the American public. Was this a rigged election? Did President Trump actually buy his Presidency from the Russians? Did the Republicans actually pay the Russians to leak the intel on then candidate Hillary Clinton so as to sow doubt into the American electorate right before the election? The use of data bots to sway opinion (so called “big data”) has been proven to sway from 1-3% of the electorate as to whether to vote or to stay home. Was this just enough to throw the election Trump’s way?
There are legitimate questions here alongside whether President Trump has committed an impeachable offense, in obstructing justice in his attempt to influence the FBI’s investigation into the “Russia connection.” Perhaps Flynn really does know something that President Trump does not want told. The questions swirling around this President are becoming so severe, convoluted and multi factorial it will take months to obtain clarity in these matters. Can the American people wait that long as this President muddles though this Presidency? Should we be required to wait as this president disintegrates into chaos before our eyes?
There is something really wrong here, and I am not the only one who believes this! Is there no one who will defend the truth for us and the American way?
This, I believe, will prove to be one of the greatest tests of the American democracy. We have proven we can defend the country from enemies without. Can we now do the same with enemies from within? Suppose the enemy of the state is the President of the United States, the elected representative of the people! Now this is a greater threat to all of us than we have ever known before! Did we really elect what we wanted and also what we deserved? Perhaps, God is testing us to see what kind of metal we are made from, gold, silver, precious jewels, or wood, hay and stubble!
We know in our hearts our democracy has been corrupted by lots and lots of money. We know access “for all the people” is now being bought and sold at expensive plate dinners for only “some of the people.” We know politics is lucrative business and a senator can make millions while in office. The rules of ethics and ethical behavior have been gradually weakened by graft, even corruption at the highest levels of government. The American people demanded change and instead we got something far worse, a narcissist President who would be our king. He does not acknowledge the normal rules of government, historical protocol, or common wisdom. Instead, our President shoots from the hip and makes up what he says “on the fly.” There is no deliberative process, common wisdom or reasonable process. Instead we are given whatever gurgles up from President Trump’s belly! Is this not appalling for the President of the United States to behave in this way?!
I am sad today and full of sorrow in a way I have never been sad and full of sorrow. I truly feel sorry for this man. He has wasted all; he has squandered all good will, he has reduced the Presidency to ashes and has left only a stump of what was a glorious tree! I would advocate his removal quickly before we lose the stump and the root as well! May our Savior Jesus help us! Lord Jesus Christ, help us! Remove this man from among us before he does any more damage to this great nation. We may later forgive his sins, but for now we cannot tolerate his actions! Oh Lord, have mercy upon us and heal our land! Grant us a new beginning, with a new President, a new light of government, a new hope of a better day!
We humbly bow before you, Great God of all nations of this earth, and God of us all, through Jesus Christ our Lord, whom we gladly worship and serve. In His blessed and powerful name we pray. Amen and Amen!
“We praise you, Lord Jesus Christ!”
“Let all of God’s people say, “Amen!”
“Amen and Amen!”
The Voice of one crying in this wilderness, “Make straight in this desert a HIGHWAY FOR OUR GOD!”
