“The Lack of a President”

This afternoon after work I was listening to an interview with Joe Biden, Vice President of the United States.  He was commenting on an initiative for cancer elimination, first stated in 1971 by Richard Nixon.  He said the ideal was now becoming real, as technology and scientist were beginning at last to share data and work together, not separately to conquer this worldwide scourge.

Joe Biden, was then asked by the NPR host if he would comment on the nature of politics and the presidential election.  After his discussion of Donald Trump’s locker room talks and his own lack of experience as a long time athlete with such talk in his locker room and a defense of Hillary Clinton and her sloppiness in the emails, now all finally released by Wikipedia (and perhaps the Russians), Joe Biden began to discuss his own initiatives over many years in the protection of women, by an act he had introduced into Congress, while he served as a senator, to some new initiatives just recently to help teenage and junior teenage women be protected from such cultural vulgarity.

I thought as I listened to Joe Biden talk, what a wonderful man to have been running for the Democrats for President and such a real antithesis to Trump’s crudeness and vulgarity.  Amazingly Trump still holds onto his 37%, mostly disenfranchised or angry white males and a few others.  They appear to be prepared to ignore his treatment of women in exchange for the pipe dream of “making the US great again”, much like Adolf Hitler told the disenfranchised German males in the 1930s, during his rise to power.  It is an interesting and horrible parallel, but Americans are too ignorant of historical parallels to recognize this.  Surely someone remembers Joe McCarthy?!  How long did it take to rid our nation of that poison?

Hillary C, to her credit, is a very hard worker.  However, she carries so much baggage, with the e-mails, the Clinton foundation, her defense of a philandering husband (albeit President of the USA), and the lack of enthusiasm of her supporters, even among women.  She has a response, but a tepid one.  All of us would instead vote for Michelle Obama if that were possible.  What a remarkable speech she gave in defense of women against Trump’s vulgarity!

Trump may go down to defeat, albeit claiming a rigged election, media bias, invoking the second amendment for the gun lobby, but likely inciting violence from supporters who are already rabid, saying “Lock her up!”  “Lock her up, Hillary!”  This is highly incendiary, dangerous political speech!  Trump has already long ago crossed the boundaries from civility to cruelty to vulgar and morally reprehensible.  Now he is crossing over into sedition against the Republic of the United States he claims to serve.  For this he should be arrested and tried for treason.  He is Arnold Benedict to the Republic and against all reasonable speech in a democracy!  I cannot understand why we as citizens of this great United States of America tolerate such shit!  Are there not any wise and reasonable among us?  I spit on Trump and on all he stands for!  I spit three times on his rhetoric, his political process of win at all cost, and attitude of ‘take no prisoners’, instead destroy all enemies (that is anyone who disagrees with him as being god’s gift to men).  I spit again and again on his sowing doubt on our election process!  Who needs the Russians to hack when we have enemies of the state living among us, like him?!

I spit lastly on our own ignorance of what it means to be citizens of these Great United States and upon our lack of appreciation of the democratic ideals we supposedly espouse.  Perhaps God is giving us Trump as a wake-up call, lest we lose our Republic!  God help us, I say!  God help us!  I only hope someone somewhere is listening. God help us all!
