A Prayer for President–elect, Donald Trump

Since the Lord Jesus has asked that I pray for our President-elect, I will do so:

O Lord Jesus Christ, whom we love and serve, who loves all people of every nation, regardless of race, color, creed or national origin:

Please help, O Lord, our poor, stupid President-elect Donald Trump, who today contacted Vladimir Putin.  O God, help Mr. Trump, so he is not manipulated by evil men.

Please help, O Lord, our poor, stupid President-elect Donald Trump, who today placed a nationalist, with ties to White Supremacy as his chief Presidential advisor.  O God, help Mr. Trump to be able to discern evil from the good in our national life.

Please help, O Lord, our poor, stupid President-elect Donald Trump, who is being opposed across our land by our youth, saying, “he is not my President”, as we all witnessed today grammar school children with signs protesting against him and his leadership.  O God, help Mr. Trump to know who is really for him and who is really against him, as he appears to have no discernment in this matter at all.  O Lord, let the children lead him back to the good and right way.

Please help, O Lord, our poor, stupid President-elect Donald Trump, who announced he will keep the Carrier Air Conditioning Company from leaving Indiana, along with other factories which plan to move to Mexico.  O God, help Mr. Trump to realize the 1950s have come and gone and we live now in a different economic reality and wishing as he might he cannot bring back jobs which moved because of new economic realities, none of which existed in the 1950s.  Make him wise in these matters, O Lord, so he has the good sense to lead us into a better reality if such can be found.

Please help, O Lord, our poor, stupid President – elect Donald Trump, who this year has witnessed the warmest year of climate on record in the modern era, with 2015 the close second warmest even known in our time.  O God, help Mr. Trump to realize the hurricanes, extreme droughts, melting sea ice and rising atmospheric C02 mean something ominous is happening in our delicate world, and if he wastes his presidency denying this reality, he will be remembered as the man who pushed the world over the brink of disaster for which all generations yet to come will suffer the consequences of his lack of intelligence and lack of vision for failing to understand what the frogs, mosquitoes and the polar bears already know.  Give Mr. Trump, O Lord, at least the intelligence of a little frog.

And so today we all join in prayer for our Donald Trump, and for all the poor persons in this country who elected him.  Lord, help us all to know the truth about this man before it is too late.  In Jesus’ name, the Savior of all humankind, I pray.  Amen and Amen.

Let all of God’s people say, “Amen!”  “Amen!  We praise you, Lord Jesus Christ!”
